Asthis offered in the holy waters will help the departed soul to attain freedom from the cycle of rebirth, thereby achieving peace. The meaning of Asthi is the leftover bone or some collected ashes of the people who passed away. After the last rites, the remains of the deceased person will get collected. It is mostly tied in a piece of cloth. In the end, the immersed ashes will flow in a quiet water body like a river. This overall process of immersion is called Asthi Visarjan.
