Karna Vedhana (Ear Piercing Ceremony) or Karnavedha is one of the sixteen Hindu Samskaras performed for a child. This ceremony is performed to open the inner ears of the child for receiving sacred vibrations, and it cleanses the sin and nurtures the soul. On the day of Karna Vedhana the child is given new clothes and then an Ayusha Homa is performed before conducting the Karna Vedhana and the kalasa water is sprinkled on the child, the Mantra verses are chanted before piercing ears for the welfare of the child.
When to Perform Karna Vedhana (Ear Piercing Ceremony)?
The Karna Vedhana ceremony is usually done within one year of the child birth or on the 1st nakshatra birthday as ayush homam is also performed together.
