The Varushabdigam ceremony is performed at the end of the first year after the death of a person. Immediately after death, the Kartha has to perform Oonam, Sodha Kumbam & Masikam for all 12 months. This will end at the Varushabdigam ceremony denoting the end of Karma.

  • The Varushabdigam ceremony is usually performed for 3 to 4 days as per community, gotra & Veda.
2. I have not performed the Masikam, Sodha Kumbam & Oonam during the first 12 months, what to do now?
  • All the left-out Masikams & Sodha Kumbams will be performed all together during the first day of the Varushabdigam by increasing the number of brahmins. Kindly note that Oona Maasikam once skipped can never be performed again.
