Pind Daan is a sacred ritual performed for departed ancestors to offer prayers and gratitude. Traditionally, this ceremony is performed every year on the same tithi (death anniversary) of the ancestor. In Kashi, performing Pind Daan at sacred ghats on the banks of the Ganga is considered extremely auspicious. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself grants liberation to souls in this sacred city.
