Pumsavanam sanskar is the second samskara in the 16 Samskarams. This ceremony is usually performed in the third month of pregnancy. Performing this ceremony helps the baby and mother get divine blessings for getting healthy child growth.

Performed in the third month of pregnancy and mainly when the stars- Poosam, Punarpoosam, Hastham, Moolam, Thiruvonam, Mrigashirsham- are present.
